Intact Pet Policy
Intact animal - DOG or CAT that has not been spayed/neutered
Dynamic Pawz does not accept intact female dogs due to female dogs having periods/pheromones that can stay in an environment for many months. Female dog periods cause chaos & discomfort for all pups involved.
Dynamic Pawz accepts intact male dogs. However, the changes below surround the new process of how/when I accept intact male dogs.
-ALL INTACT PETS- WILL NOW BE $5 MORE PER SERVICE
BOARDING FOR INTACT PET: $35 PER NIGHT
DAYCARE FOR INTACT PET: $3O PER DAY
Intact animals are ineligible for weekly daycare sessions at my home. I can accommodate intact pets periodically, but not consistently.
SYMPTOMS THAT ARISE FOR AN INTACT PET:
-Excessively humping other dogs
-Excessively licking other dogs’ genitals
-Licking pee & mouth chattering
-Scent marking in the house (peeing)
Due to these symptoms, many intact pets cannot join our other pups in playtime. Intact pets can cause fights when they are too persistent. Many of these intact pets have to have their own yardtime & cannot be out with the group inside the house. On top of these symptoms, many of these intact pets are not kennel trained or know how to respectfully walk on a leash.
I am still accepting intact male pets. However, the routine for intact pets differs from the pups that attend that love everyone & can play perfectly fine.
LAST MINUTE REQUESTS FOR INTACT PETS
If I -HAVE MET- your intact pet before, you must give me at least a week’s notice before requested dates. Any last minute notice under a week may not be approved.
If I -HAVE NEVER MET- your intact pet before, all board/daycare requests made less than 2 weeks of requested dates will be denied.
For example: if you are a new client of an intact pet & reach out to me on Jan 10 for a board request for Jan 17-20, you will be denied. Here’s why:
ALL INTACT PETS ARE NOW REQUIRED TO HAVE 1 OR 2 (successful) DAYCARE SESSIONS BEFORE ANY BOARD REQUESTS.
This allows me to understand your intact pet better. I will understand on the 1st day if your pet can handle being around other dogs while still being intact. If the symptoms above are too extreme, your intact pet will be denied future services until the pet is fixed.
Lastly,
I am now only accepting 1 intact pet AT A TIME.
Conclusion,
There are not ANY big, corporate doggy daycares that accept intact animals over 6 months old. I am offering a service to my community that many decide to not deal with! What I have learned is intact pets cannot have the same routine as a fixed pet, it’s just not feasible in a doggy daycare setting. It’s not feasible because of the symptoms the intact pets show towards other dogs.
How your pet behaves at home will be much different from a daycare environment. If you have 1 intact male at home, of course he can’t excessively hump anything because there isn’t another dog in your home to do that to. At my daycare, it’s a completely different ball game.
PLEASE NOTE: I never mentioned anywhere in this post that all dogs should be neutered/spayed. Personally, I do not care what you decide to do for YOUR PUP! I will never persuade anyone to fix their pet at a certain time. There are advantages and disadvantages to both the natural way and the surgery. However, I run a business where I am solely responsible for the care of many innocent, good boy souls! Therefore, it is my responsibility to not allow individual pups to intervene with the safest flow of my daycare. If your pup shows the above excessive symptoms, I will let you know your pup is not a good fit for my daycare while he is still intact.
